Dans Witch Coven, les riffs qui sortent des guitares de RORCAL sont simples et peu nombreux car les mélodies ont d'abord pour fonction de réciter une incantation. Elle est couronnée de succès : avec sa noise, Earthflesh donne une forme tangible au Chaos qui tente déjà de tout avaler. Trente minutes d'horreur... Favorite track: Altars of Nothingness.

E_H The first few minutes remind me strongly of Ulver's acapella music on "Kveldssanger", but then the album tips over into a cracking, noisy and rolling noise excess with doom character. At some point this swallows up the vocals, which at the end of the first song can only with difficulty work their way out of the noisy ambience again, only to sink in a final inferno. In the second song, black metal comes into its own with some blast beats. Favorite track: Altars of Nothingness.

Ippocalyptica Life need not be complicated, and we can make simple decisions more often than we think. For instance, when Rorcal releases an album, you buy it. Witch Coven contains all of the primordial power and rage for which Rorcal has become known, but this time, the band’s unique blend of black, doom, and post-metal is presented through a new lens of horror, thanks to Earthflesh’s noise and ambient contributions. Witch Coven is truly more than the sum of its great parts. This is all-consuming. Favorite track: Happiness sucks - so do you.

SouthernWolf About as crushing and devastating as you should expect, at times overwhelmingly heavy, yet impossible to disengage from. Earthflesh seems to provide the miasma from which Rorcal emerges in all their might, but when his walls rise up to bolster the band, the combined assault is breathtaking.

For this new release, black metal/doom quintet RORCAL teams up with malevolent sound mistreator EARTHFLESH to give birth to the ugliest, darkest & roughest tracks of its career. WITCHCOVEN displays two long & complex songs best described as nightmares of dreadful horror. The harsh noise & deep cracklings provided by Bruno (who happens to be Rorcal’s original bass player) and his new project Earthflesh, creates a whole new level of deepness in the music and supplements the band’s violent take on doomy black metal in a brand new way. The result, perpetually oscillating between crawling doom, massive drone, raw black metal & pure noise, is as thick as it is terrifying. In the end, the symbiosis between the two entities is utterly breathtaking.
